In Kentucky today, dozens of lives were impacted by the closure of Arbor Place nursing home in Clinton. Over 100 nurses are left without jobs, which is tragic enough—but almost 100 residents are now homeless as well. All of these people now have their lives up in the air, but it might be for good reason.
A state investigation revealed that many violations were occurring within the nursing center. Many of these broken regulations could have easily resulted in the harm or even death of patients, say sources. The safety of the residents should definitely be the top priority of the center, and if violations have become the norm for workers, then perhaps they do need to seek employment elsewhere—or even in another field.
Of course, it’s too bad for any nurses who weren’t cutting corners, as now employees from the nursing home are sure to have marred reputations based on the news coverage and bad publicity following the closure. As for residents, my heart goes out to them, and I hope they find a safe place to live soon.
